ShipShape Terms of Use
Effective date: October 28, 2026
ShipShape is published by Turing Forge LLC, an Alabama limited liability company ("Turing Forge," "we," "us"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to the ShipShape iPhone app (the "App") and to ShipShape Pro.
The App is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA," https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). These Terms add to the Standard EULA. If the two conflict, the Standard EULA controls as far as Apple's rules require it to; otherwise these Terms control. By downloading, using or buying anything in the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. What you're buying
1.1 The App. Buying the App lets you use it for one boat, together with that boat's engines and trailer.
1.2 ShipShape Pro. Pro adds unlimited boats, personal watercraft and trailers; a service history PDF; and iCloud sync between your devices on the same Apple Account. You can get Pro in one of two ways:
(a) Yearly subscription. See Section 2.
(b) One-time Pro unlock. A single payment that unlocks Pro features in the App for your Apple Account and your Family Sharing group. It isn't a subscription and doesn't renew. It unlocks the Pro features the App offers; it doesn't promise future features, updates or versions (see Section 4).
1.3 Family Sharing. The App and ShipShape Pro can be shared through Apple's Family Sharing as Apple allows.
1.4 Prices. Prices are shown in the App and on the App Store before you buy, in your local currency, and may change. A price change doesn't affect what you've already paid for.
2. Yearly subscription
2.1 Billing. Apple charges the subscription to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, and again at the start of each new year of service.
2.2 Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically each year at the then-current price until you cancel. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current year.
2.3 Cancelling. You can cancel anytime in your iPhone's Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, or from "Manage Subscription" in the App's Settings. After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the year you've paid for.
2.4 Price changes. If the subscription price changes, Apple will notify you and, where Apple's rules require it, ask for your consent before charging the new price.
2.5 Refunds. Apple handles all payments and refunds. To request a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds directly.
2.6 Reminder. While renewal is on, the App will remind you once a year, about 30 days before your subscription renews.
3. If ShipShape Pro ends
If your subscription ends, or Pro otherwise stops being available to your account (for example, after a refund or if you leave a Family Sharing group):
(a) nothing you entered is deleted;
(b) you choose one boat to keep active;
(c) your other boats are paused: you can still view them, export them as CSV or delete them, but you can't edit them and they won't get reminders until you get Pro again.
4. Updates, availability and discontinuation
4.1 No promise of updates. We may release updates, but we don't promise to. We don't promise new features, fixes, or compatibility with future versions of iOS or future devices. This applies to the App, the subscription and the one-time Pro unlock alike.
4.2 Availability. We may stop selling the App or ShipShape Pro, remove the App from the App Store, or stop updating or supporting it at any time. If we do, the copy already installed on your device keeps working as installed, including Pro features you've unlocked, for as long as your device and iOS continue to run it. Whether you can download the App again is up to Apple and the App Store.
4.3 Subscriptions after discontinuation. If we stop offering the subscription, we'll turn off renewals so you're not charged again, where Apple lets us.
4.4 Changes to features. We may change, add or remove features in an update. We won't remove a Pro feature from a one-time Pro unlock or an active subscription term on purpose, except where a law, Apple's rules, or a security or safety problem requires it.
5. Maintenance information: the manual is the final word
5.1 A planning aid. ShipShape helps you organize maintenance. Its schedules come from owner's manuals you add, information the App reads from them with on-device AI, and general templates. On-device AI can misread a manual, and general templates may not fit your boat, engine, use or conditions.
5.2 Check before you rely on it. Your manufacturer's manual and a qualified marine technician are the final word on what maintenance your boat needs and when. Check the App's suggestions against your manual, especially extracted intervals, and confirm anything safety-related.
5.3 Not advice; you're responsible. The App doesn't give professional, mechanical or safety advice and doesn't inspect your boat. You're responsible for maintaining and operating your boat safely and lawfully. We aren't responsible for maintenance that's missed, done late or done wrong, or for any resulting damage, because of the App's content, reminders or notifications (for example, a reminder that doesn't fire because notifications are off, the device is off, or iOS limits it).
6. Your data
ShipShape keeps your information on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud account. Turing Forge doesn't receive or store it. See the ShipShape Privacy Policy: https://turingforgeai.com/shipshape/privacy. You're responsible for backing up your devices; we can't recover data we never had.
7. Content you find through the App
The App's browser opens websites run by manufacturers, search engines and others. We don't control those sites or the manuals you save from them, and their terms apply to your use of them. Manuals remain the property of their publishers. Save and use them for your own personal use.
8. Acceptable use
Use the App only for lawful, personal or business maintenance planning. Don't copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the App except as the Standard EULA or the law allows.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the App and ShipShape Pro are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that its maintenance information will be accurate or complete. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Turing Forge won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, use or goodwill, arising from the App or these Terms. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the App and ShipShape Pro in the 12 months before the claim and (b) US$50. These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence in places where that can't be limited.
11. Apple
These Terms are between you and Turing Forge, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. The Standard EULA's terms about Apple, including product claims, intellectual property claims and legal compliance, apply.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Jefferson County, Alabama, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away any mandatory protections of the law where you live, including your right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version at this address with a new effective date. If a change is material, we'll tell you in the App before it takes effect. Changes don't apply to purchases made before the change, unless you agree.
